Ingo Berensmeyer is Professor of English and American Literature at Justus-Liebig-University Giessen (Germany) and a guest professor in the English department at Ghent University. He is the author of John Banville: Fictions of Order. Authority, Authorship, Authenticity (Heidelberg, 2000) and 'Angles of Contingency': Literarische Kultur im England des 17. Jahrhunderts (Tübingen, 2007).  He has also written study guides to Shakespeare's Hamlet (Stuttgart 2007) and literary theory (Stuttgart 2009), edited a collection of essays on mysticism and media (Mystik und Medien, Munich 2008), and co-edited a selection of essays by K. Ludwig Pfeiffer (Von der Materialität der Kommunikation zur Medienanthropologie, Heidelberg 2009). He has published some 30 essays in collections and journals, including New Literary History, Poetics Today, Studies in English Literature, Anglia, Poetica and Zeitschrift für Anglistik und Amerikanistik. His main research interests are early modern English literature and culture, Shakespeare studies, and literary and media theory.
